A market or market is a place where people regularly gather to buy and sell groceries, livestock, and other goods.  In different parts of the world, a market can be described as a souk (from Arabic), a bazaar (from Persian), a solid mercado (Spanish), or an itinerant tianguis (Mexico) or palengke (Philippines). Some markets operate daily and are considered permanent markets, while others take place once a week or on less frequent fixed days such as festival days and are called periodic markets. The shape of a market depends on the population, culture, environment and geographical conditions of its location. The term market includes many types of trade, such as markets, market halls and food halls and their different variants. Thus, markets can be online marketplaces both outside and inside and in the modern world. While online marketplace operators process consumer transactions, participating retailers and wholesalers fulfill orders. Retailers and wholesalers also make deliveries. The subcontinent may have borrowed the concept of covered markets in the Middle East around the tenth century with the arrival of Islam. The caravanserai and covered market structures, known as souks, began to appear along the Silk Roads and were located in the area just outside the outskirts of the city. Following the tradition of the Arabian Peninsula, India has also established temporary seasonal markets in regional districts. In the Pushkar of Rajasthan, an annual camel market was first recorded in the 15th century. However, after the founding of the Mughal Empire in northern India in the 16th century, this arrangement changed.
A covered bazaar or market was integrated into the urban structures and was located in the city center.  Markets and bazaars were known in colonial times. Some of these bazaars seem to specialize in certain types of products. Patna district was home to 175 weaving villages in the 17th century, and Patna Bazaar enjoyed a reputation as a trading center for fine fabrics.
