On August 9 and 15, 2019, the U.S. District Court approved the agreement between the Los Angeles Unified School District and the plaintiffs to enter into and terminate the amended consent decree effective December 31, 2019, as well as a decision on the claims of a parent-intervenor group regarding the MCD. On October 29, 2019, LA Unified filed a class action lawsuit against JUUL, the nation`s largest vapor manufacturer, as the vaping epidemic is affecting student learning and our district. The Legal Services team of the Los Angeles Unified School District General Counsel, Compliance and Performance Monitoring (CPM) has released the “Report on Improving Student Achievement and Securing Rights,” which focuses on equal opportunity, accessibility to programs, and the provision of free and appropriate public education.
